Daily Maintenance And Failure Prevention For Rebar Processing Machinery

For overseas construction projects, unexpected equipment downtime may trigger severe consequences, including project delay, extra labour cost and penalty loss. Therefore, regular maintenance and failure prevention become critical for rebar‑processing machinery used on‑site.

We divide the whole maintenance system into three levels: daily maintenance, weekly maintenance and monthly maintenance. Each level contains clear operation items for site operators.

Daily Maintenance
Check power cables, switches and grounding conditions before startup. Inspect moulds, cutting blades and wearing parts for deformation or wear. Tighten loose bolts.
During operation, observe running noise, vibration and oil leakage status. Overload processing is strictly forbidden.
After shutdown, clear iron filings and dust inside and outside the machine. Apply lubrication grease to transmission shafts, bearings and moving joints. Keep equipment dry and away from rain erosion for outdoor‑placed machines.

Weekly Maintenance
Thoroughly clean all accumulated debris. Re‑tighten all connection bolts. Check lubrication effect of key moving parts. Inspect hydraulic pipe joints for oil seepage. Test whether safety protection devices work normally.

Monthly Maintenance
Carry out comprehensive inspection on motor, hydraulic system, transmission gear and chain components. Judge component aging degree. Replace seriously‑consumed spare parts in advance rather than waiting for complete breakdown. Calibrate processing dimension accuracy.

Maintenance for Core Components
‑ Mould & Blade: Directly contact raw rebar, easy to wear. Regular inspection and timely replacement guarantee bending accuracy.
‑ Bearing & Transmission Shaft: Lack of lubrication will cause over‑heating and noise. Stick to regular greasing.
‑ Hydraulic System: Prevent oil pollution, check pipe joint leakage, keep proper hydraulic‑oil level.

Common Causes of Equipment Failures
Most site failures are not caused by product quality defects. They stem from human factors: long‑term overload operation, insufficient lubrication, iron‑filing accumulation, loose fasteners and ageing circuits. Operators should establish standardized operation habits to reduce avoidable malfunctions.

Distinction of Working Conditions
For machines working in open‑air construction sites: pay extra attention to rain‑proof and dust‑proof measures.
For equipment inside prefabrication factories: keep good workshop environment and stick to fixed‑cycle inspection.
